The earth is slowing down: 200 million years ago there were 375 days each year, but is currently 365 days 6 hours. This reduction is partly caused by the gravitational impact that the moon has on the ocean tides (as oceans swell around the spinning earth they hit the rock of the continents, putting a gradual brake on the speed of the spin.

Launch Promotion
To help celebrate the potential for tremendous imagination from the matters raised on the Body and Spirit page (whether believers or not in a creator); Moneycare Financial Planning have agreed to sponsor two promotions:-

'Visions of God' - please let us have your ideas on how God uses the spirit to communicate.

'The next half' - with the Earth half way through its expected natural life, what adventures / events do you think are in store. This can be scientific or imaginary.

All entries are eligible for inclusion on the Origin website and will be considered for inclusion at the sole discretion of the judges to be appointed by Moneycare. All entries should be received by 31st August 2008 and contain the name, postal address and signed confirmation that the work is your original work. Awards of a minimum £50 (amount to reflect the effort and skill at the sole discretion of the sponsors) will be given at the sole discretion of the sponsors and whilst articles may be featured on the Origin website, they remain the copyright of the writers.
