Welcome to Origin a small creative furniture and home-ware company based in the heart of the Midlands. Origin is an online shop with a difference as Origin aims to provide people with pieces of furniture, as well as complimentary items for the home or office that have been ‘saved from the skip’. Pieces are sourced from various places, from stately homes to flea markets and then lovingly restored for new owners to take home.

Origin also sells ‘new’ pieces that incorporate a vintage element. For example cushion covers and curtains made from vintage and recycled fabrics, each piece lovingly crafted by artists and crafters all based in the UK.

Please feel free to browse our shop which is constantly updated with new and exciting finds….happy hunting!

I'm back on the scene after a long break away dealing with lots of exciting things and also some of the more mudane.

I've bought a super cute little cottage style house (see my blog at www.originblack.posterous.com). I've moved my studio to home, consolidated my stock, have tackled more issues at work than you could shake a stick at and I'm getting ready to change the look of things here on the site.

Over the next few months I'm going to be sharing with you all the projects I've been taking on in the house, which really allows me to share some of the tips and advice I have about painting your own furniture. I'm even going to share some video tutorials, some of which will be filmed in my new kitchen (seen here). There will also be some 'how to' sessions on all sorts of things that I've been making from cushion covers, soap and new recipes for some upcoming summer tea-parties!

Of course all these things will be punctuated with the trials and tribulations of my day job and of course will include the adventures of Flossy and Otter, my darling kittens!

I look forward to seeing you again soon!

Hello!

Well, I'm slowly getting there with my site.  There is still lots of work going on behind the scenes with wonderful people ferreting away to get it up and looking, well a little different.

So, this week I have been blogging under two different Posterous sites!  They are called www.originwhite.posterous.com and www.originblack.posterous.com

Why have I been doing this?  Well, thank you for your question!  I decided that my wee little site needed updating, so I asked the two angels that have helped me to set this up, to help me do this a little differently, and that is exactly what they have helped me to do.  The two sites are my new way of communicating about quite important and indeed different areas of my life, my business and my work and home life.

In a moment of creativity (or madness) and definitely over a beer or two, the three of us decided that it would be really exciting if we could blog about these two areas separately. I've designed a slightly different logo, which you can see snippets of here, and over the next wee while I'll be blogging about everything....not just ORIGIN.

For a while now I think I've been avoiding blogging because so much of my life is dominated by my work as a lecturer.  My new blog will allow you to see more of the real me, behind the scenes (like the picture below in which my little kitten Flossy bothering me while I was making cake-stands), stuff I do at home and things I do to relax when I'm not doing Origin-y things or teaching students.

I'd realy love for you to visit my new sites and say hello.  Hopefully it won't be too long until the little angles figure out how to amalgamate the two sites and bring them into one, back under the same URL though, so watch this space.

In the meantime, I look forward to meeting you...come and visit!
